The Scientia Journal

Author Guidelines

Please follow these instructions before submitting your manuscript to ensure smooth peer review and production.

Submission Format

The complete manuscript must use single spacing and include page and line numbers. Submissions should be prepared in Microsoft Word.

Manuscript Structure

Title

Titles should be concise and clearly reflect the main result. Avoid unnecessary abbreviations; only widely accepted forms (e.g., DNA, RNA, PCR) may be used. Titles must not be offensive or alarming. The editorial office may request title changes when necessary.

Abstract

Abstracts should be a single paragraph and structured as brief introduction, materials & methods, and conclusive results. Keep abbreviations minimal, and do not cite references, figures, or tables. Clinical trial manuscripts must include registration identifier and public URL.

Materials and Methods

Subheadings are allowed. Provide enough detail for replication when read alongside cited references. Include ethics approval statements for animal studies.

Results

Subheadings may be used. Footnotes are not permitted; include required details directly in the main text.

Discussion

Discuss key findings, novelty, limitations, and alternative interpretations. Explain how findings advance current understanding and identify testable future directions.

Language Style

The journal follows American English. For style conventions, refer to the Chicago Manual of Style. Avoid insulting, profane, derogatory, or culturally biased language.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

  • Generative AI cannot be listed as an author or co-author.
  • Authors are fully responsible for verifying all AI-assisted text, visuals, citations, and references.
  • AI-modified figures must accurately represent manuscript data.
  • All AI use must be disclosed in acknowledgements and, where relevant, methods section (tool name, version, model, source).
  • Authors are encouraged to submit AI prompts and outputs as supplementary files for transparency.

References

Submissions must cite relevant and current peer-reviewed literature. Tools such as Zotero and Mendeley may be used.

The Scientia Journal uses the Harvard (author-date) reference format. Entries should include full surname and initials for the first 10 authors followed by "et al." and publication year in brackets, organized alphabetically.

Authors are responsible for reference accuracy, link accessibility, and avoiding citation of retracted works unless critically required for context.

Acknowledgement

Acknowledgements should credit individuals directly involved in the research process. Personal thanks unrelated to research activities should not be included.

Figures

  • Insert figures near first citation in the main manuscript file.
  • Multi-panel figures must use labels such as (a), (b), (c), (d).
  • Do not place panel labels directly over critical image regions.
  • Graph axes must include clear labels and units.
  • All figures must be 300 DPI at final size.
  • Smallest figure text should be at least 8-point at final display size.

Guidelines for Tables

  • Tables must be editable and created in Microsoft Word.
  • Leave one blank line above and below each table.
  • Provide caption before each table using labels like "Table-1".
  • Cite tables in the main text in sequential numerical order.
  • Tables spanning multiple pages may be moved to supplementary material.

Guidelines for Supplementary Data

Large or format-limited files (videos, raw traces, slides) may be uploaded as supplementary material and published with the article.

Supplementary files are not typeset. Ensure files are clean (no tracked changes/highlights/line numbers), include captions, and avoid title/authorship/correspondence duplication to prevent inconsistencies.

Authorship and Correspondence

  • List all author names in one sequence separated by commas, with complete and accurate spelling.
  • Use superscript numerals to connect authors and affiliations.
  • Affiliation order: Laboratory, Institute, Department, Organization, City, State abbreviation (US/Canada/Australia only), Country.
  • Do not include street addresses or postal codes.
  • Mark corresponding author(s) with an asterisk and provide accurate email address(es).
  • Equal contribution authors should be marked with dagger symbol (†) in manuscript and PDF.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

APC applies only to manuscripts accepted after peer review by independent editorial boards.

APC per accepted article: PKR 15000
